Dear Barstow Families:

The 2013-2104 school year marks the sixth year of educating Barstow students. We are proud that Barstow Elementary has been a family oriented school where our children truly come first.

Special highlights of this year’s activities include our Harvest Ball, Holiday Festival, Learning Fair, St. Patrick’s Dance, Beauty and the Beast, Art Festival, Spring Fling, and Mini Relay for Life.  Our parent volunteers and PTA are extremely dedicated and have a combined volunteer hour total of approximately 7,520.  The first kindergarten class of Bulldogs have completed their fifth grade year and are moving on to middle school next year and we are so proud of them.  We have accomplished a great deal since our doors opened in 2008 and we thank you for your continued support throughout the years. We couldn’t have done it without you.

In May, it was announced that beginning July 1st, Mrs. House would transition to be the principal of Mutual Elementary School. Yesterday, the Calvert County Public Schools Board of Education announced that Dr. Ramona Crowley would become the Principal of Barstow Elementary School. Dr. Crowley comes to Barstow with 40 years of experience in education, with the last 23 years as being the Principal at Huntingtown Elementary. Please join us in welcoming her to the Barstow staff.  Mrs. House is looking forward to the challenges her new assignment will bring but will dearly miss her Barstow family. Her time at Barstow has been filled with many wonderful memories and she feels honored to have been the first Barstow Principal.

Also on Thursday, it was announced that Mr. Fulton would transition to be the new principal of Huntingtown Elementary School. Mr. Fulton has worked in various positions in six elementary schools in Calvert County and is also looking forward to professional challenge as he transitions from a Vice Principal role to a Principal role.   Mr. Fulton, as excited as he is to begin his new role, is really going to miss the Barstow students, staff, and families that he’s grown to know and love over the past 4 years.  A new Vice Principal for Barstow will be announced in the next few weeks.

We will be working closely with our successors and will do everything possible to acclimate them to our wonderful school. We are confident that the transition will be smooth and you will welcome your new Principal and Vice Principal. While we are saddened to be leaving Barstow Elementary, we welcome our new opportunities and are eager to embrace our new school communities and the challenges that lie ahead.
Fondly,

Donna L. House                                                                Brock Fulton
Principal                                                                            Vice Principal
